In the 1950s, Geoffrey Bretton of Burrows and Bradfield formed a partnership with Cecil Rogers of Readers in Aylesbury.

In 1979, the name was changed to Readers, merging with John Wilkinson estate agents in 1986. The building was renovated at this time. Geoffrey Bretton sold the building to South Oxfordshire District Council in 1991.
