The empty building that now occupies 6-8 High Street was constructed in the late 1960s to house a supermarket (most recently Co-Op).
However, a sixteenth-century Mansion House on the site was demolished in 1965 to make way for the supermarket. This older building reflects much of the rich history of Thame.
