The famous parliamentarian, John Hampden, was injured at the battle of Chalgrove in 1643 and subsequently died at the Greyhound Inn in Thame (now Greyhound Walk).
Miss Hockley proposed that a replica of the John Hampden medallion, that had hung in the school hall, be incorporated in a memorial to John Hampden in Greyhound Walk. This was unveiled on 21st June 1951.
