The cross-wing contained three bays and two stories, although no evidence of a staircase survives. The first floor was jettied (protruded beyond the lower wall), and this was underbuilt in stone more recently.
The two doorways from the screens passage suggest that the ground floor was subdivided, but a nineteenth-century chimney stack now blocks one door.
The only medieval timberwork is on the wall to the cross passage. The doorways have curved jambs, reminiscent of crucks, and a coat of arms was inscribed between them
