Rebuilding in the 1640s

The First English Civil War (1642-1646) was a turbulent period in Thame and the town was occupied at times by both royalist and parliamentarian troops. There was fighting in the streets and many buildings were damaged.

After the war, there was a period of rebuilding. We know that Striblehills was modified at this time because there is a beam at the front of the house marked with the date 1647.
