“Born of a respectable family near Thame, greatly elevated himself by his own industry. By his wife Frances (daughter of Thomas Carter of North Weston, gentleman) he left three surviving daughters: Martha (now the wife of Charles Holt of Stoke, esquire), Frances, and Elizabeth. He died on the 24th day of August, aged 49, 1692.

Next to the son of John, his second born daughter, died a sudden death within one month after him, 25th September, aged 17, 1692.”
