Mr Dandridge worked at Morris Motors, Oxford as a projectionist. He loved fairs and made two models in the early 1950s, one for each of his two daughters, based on real fairground rides and using materials he had brought back from the war. His family remembered watching him carve the models with a penknife, at his home in London Road, Headington.
Many thanks to members of the Thame Shed who renovated the model and restored it to working order.
The two carousels were donated to the Museum by A E Dandridge’s family.
