Sometimes children who didn’t listen or do their work were also sent to sit in a corner and made to wear a pointed hat with a D for dunce on it.
Using the cane or ruler to hit a child was only banned in England in 1999, but most schools stopped using them long before that.
What happens in your school? Do you have red and yellow cards or something similar? Nowadays you might also be sent to talk to the head teacher or miss playtime if you make bad behaviour choices. In some Edwardian schools they probably did the same as well.
