Thame Show
Thame Agricultural Society launched a show in 1855 with a ploughing match and competitions in hedging, ploughing, rick-building, shepherding, and thatching. Prizes were given to farm servants for good conduct and long service.
By 1890, the Show was established on the third Thursday in September. In 1897, it moved from Conduit Hill to the town recreation ground, where it was held for 61 years. It became increasingly popular with classes added for cattle, hunters, cart horses, colts, driving and jumping contests. There was even a special railway timetable for the day of the show.
The show moved to Thame showground in 1958, but closed in 2019.
